Descripción

This matching numbers MG presents in the stunning, rare TD metallic colour of Silverstone Grey. 929 UYT started its life as a LHD and was exported to North America shortly after its manufacture. Upon coming back to the UK, the TD underwent a full nut and bolt restoration with its engine also being fully rebuilt. The MG had lived a very conservative life out in the US only covering an average of 1,000 miles a year until it was taken off the road and stored in 1974 with 24000 miles from new recorded. The MG remained off the road until Oxford Motorcars LLC of East Providence sold the car in 2015 to its new owner in Milton Keynes. The new owner was presented with a car that had seldom moved for almost 40 years and a full restoration was required.

Throughout the course of 2 years, a thorough restoration was carried out with every aspect covered. The engine and gearbox were removed, the engine had a full rebuild and the engineering work was carried out by Headline MK Ltd of Milton Keynes, an engineering firm with over 50 years' experience. The engine work included a new timing chain, new pistons, full gasket set, new camshaft, new main bearings and big end bearings, machining of the block and head, new valves, and overhauling the oil pump. The electrics were completely overhauled, with new wiring, a new fuse box, new switches, new battery and reconditioning of the starter motor and the dynamo. Major brake work had been carried out, with new wheel cylinders, new brake shoes, new brake hoses, new brake master cylinder, all new pipework. The suspension and steering system also saw vast improvement with new steering column bushes, all new suspension bushes and bolts, the kingpins were overhauled, and new track rod ends were fitted. One the engine had been installed, the cooling system saw all new hoses, pipework, water pump, and the radiator had been re-cored. The fuel system was overhauled to include a brand-new fuel tank, and all new fuel lines, pump, and filter. The ignition system was all fitted with new HT leads, new rotor arm, new distributor cap, and the engine and carbs were timed, and tuned accordingly.

The exterior was also shown a lot of attention, with new lamp units, new window seals and no expense was spared with the weather equipment, the new Deluxe Mohair Canvas Black soft top was purchased from an MG trim specialist, Don Trimming of Erdington, along with the matching side screens. The doors received new catches, striker plates, and hinges which give you much needed reassurance with the suicide door layout. The body was prepared and completely re-painted to a superb standard and the engine bay superbly detailed. Over £500 was spent on reconditioning the chrome work and new bumpers and hub caps were also fitted bringing every aspect of the aesthetics to a fantastic standard. The interior of the car was brought to a standard in keeping with the gorgeous exterior, with having a full retrim of the seats, and new high quality carpet set were put in to match the beautiful bright Red seats and dashboard.

After inspecting this MG TD, you can see the attention to detail that has gone into the rebuild of this fantastic car. To take 929 UYT out in the wonderful North Yorkshire countryside is truly a great driving experience, the engine is very fit and pulls superbly, the brakes are strong, and the steering is sharp and responsive. With only 25,000 miles on the clock from new, this amazingly built MG TD is a great matching numbers example that drives immensely and looks stunning.
