63.000km R107 300 SL

The Mercedes 107 SL-Class is perhaps the most beloved and the most offered classic car in the past decades. With a large offer of different models, origins, prices and conditions it can be hard to find the right car. The most beloved and best driving cars are perhaps the European-delivered and late-model 300SL and 500SL.

This 1985 300 SL has the very smooth and bulletproof M103 straight-six that was new for 1985 and was in production up to R107-end in 1989. Ordered in 702 Rauchsilber (Smoke silver) over 171 Black MB-Tex, 506 Electric outside mirror, 531 Automatic Antenna, 543 illuminated sunvisor with mirror, 585 Airconditioning and electric windows, 590 heat insulating glass, 682 fire extinguisher, 240 outside temp. indicator, 254 Becker radio, 740 Black convertible top, 873 heated seats L + R.
Ordered new through Mercedes-Benz Niederlassung Aachen and delivered to Mr. Sauerbier from Merzenich.

The original 'Bordmappe' comes with the car along with the service book. Serviced from Mercedes-Benz in the Aachen area up to 1992. In 2002 the car was bought by a Dutch Mercedes specialist and sold to a gentleman from the south of the Netherlands. The car lived in his house under blankets until we've discovered it in 2021. What we found is a very original, rust-free and unrestored survivor 300 SL.

The body is perfect. Beautiful paint, mostly factory original, perfectly straight. Beautiful orignal bumpers showing excellent chrome. Clear headlights and excellent taillights. The chrome strips around the car and windows are in beautiful original condition showing hardly any wear.
This example shows no rust; The jack points, rear axle mounts, floors, etc are all solid in this solid on this 300SL. The interior consists of black MB Tex that remains in nice, supple original and as-new condition. The dash shows no cracks and the wood on the center console is excellent. A true time capsule.

The engine-bay of the car is very original. Factory details and tags and the silky smooth 3,0L M103 engine. The folding roof is original and in excellent condition. No tears, clean fabric and a plastic folding window in great shape. The trunk shows all original carpets, a clean trunk-floor with never-used spare wheel. The toolset is present. Also the original hardtop comes with the car.

We have performed a major service to bring this car back life after years of sitting un-used yet dry. That included taking the fueltank out for proper cleaning. Taking out the K-Jetronic fuel-injection to send away for rebuild. Mounting it back with 6 new fuel injectors and a new fuelpump. Furthermore all new filters, fluids, cap, rotor and thermostat. The rear exhaust muffler was replaced. The brakes were complete redone: Replaced front and rear brake calipers along with hoses, pads and fluid and front + rear brake rotors. A set new of new Bilstein B4 shock absorbers was installed. Tranmission and differential fluid was replaced and the A/C system was brought back to life. Converting it to R134a gas, now blowing cold. A set of new Pirelli tyres was installed. The undercarriage was cleaned and coated in TimeMax Clear coating to keep it's originality while protecting against the elements. Since 2021 the car was owned by Oldenzaal Classics's owner and driven some 4000 kilometers on nice summer days. We therefore know it has no defects nor teething problems. Ofcourse stored inside, properly cleaned and detailed and serviced in our workshop.

This car looks and feels amazing. The interior feels tight and sits excellent. Excellent paint that is partly original, showing perfect panelgaps. The engine runs very smooth, the tranmission is very easy to shift. The leather on the steering wheel is excellent. Handling and braking is excellent thanks to new brakes, tyres, shocks and just 63.000 kilometers of experience. The A/C blows cold, wind deflector is present and the Becker Europa Cassette plays nicely through an electrically opening antenna.
By far the best R107 i've encountered, both cosmetically as technically.

The complete history is present and the kilometers are documented throughout the years. Oldenzaal Classics' internal invoices present documenting the recommissioning.

Amazing condition and spec -  63.000 documented kilometers.
