1966 | Mercedes-Benz 300 SE

When Mercedes-Benz launched the new 220, 220 b and 220 SEb limousines in 1959, the Ponton coupés and cabriolets were still being built. But they now looked antiquated. In February 1961, the new 220 SE b Coupé was finally launched, followed by the Convertible in September. The crowning glory was the 300 SE Coupé and Convertible, introduced in February 1961, with air suspension, power steering, four disc brakes and limited slip differential. Electric windows, automatic gearbox and air conditioning could also be ordered by the well-heeled buyer. No other model offered so much extravagant technology.

Our Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Convertible was delivered in Bremen, where it remained with the first owner until 1982. The 2nd owner still has the car today! In 1985, the classic car was temporarily taken out of service because a major overhaul was due: replacement engine and gearbox, air suspension, soft top and repainting in the original colour in dismantled condition.
