Description:
The ‘original model’ of the W111 model series was presented in 1961. In 1969, the slightly modified model with a 2.8-litre engine finally came onto the market as a ‘flat radiator version’. This model was offered with the completely newly developed 3.5-litre V8 engine as an optional extra. Only 3,270 units were produced. These models were the last Mercedes Benz models to be built largely by hand. As a result, the price of the coupés was almost twice as high as that of the saloons.
According to available documents, the vehicle presented here was originally delivered in the USA. A few years ago, the car returned to Germany as an untouched original vehicle with excellent bodywork. On this basis, the vehicle was extensively partially restored by Mercedes-Benz Classic. The entire technology was overhauled, the vehicle underbody was sandblasted and preserved, the car was repainted in its original colour and the entire interior was renewed. In addition, the car was fitted with a new rear axle with a longer gear ratio. A good opportunity to acquire a popular everyday classic in convincing condition.
