Descripción

In the late 1950s, Mercedes began thinking about successors to the beautiful Ponton and Adenauer models, and this was the beginning of something grand - not only in stature, for it is enormous, but also in legacy. The Mercedes W111 Cabriolet is recognised as one of the most stately, sophisticated, and graceful open Grand Touring machines ever to come out of Mercedes' Sindelfingen factory. Paul Bracq was responsible for the styling of both the coupé and convertible, and his design lines have a timeless clarity about them. Bracq is still active in the automotive world, serving as a judge at Concours d’Elegance, among other roles.

This 220 SE started in sunny Arizona and was later exported back to Europe. It came to Denmark in 2008, cleared through customs, and registered with Danish plates. The "220" refers to a 2.2-liter M127 inline-six engine, and this one comes with an attractive 4-speed manual gearbox. The Mercedes is finished in Papyrus White, with a blue MB Tex interior, matching hub caps, and period-correct white wall tires. Inside, you are greeted by the delightful scent of quality materials, and details like the Zebrano wood, clock, and large ivory-colored steering wheel emphasize that this is a true masterpiece from Mercedes' golden era. The original Becker Mexico radio is also intact. At nearly 5 meters in length, there is plenty of room for 4 people.

Only 2,729 220 SE Cabriolets were made, and this is an excellent example. The car comes registered, with the original data card and an extended technical report.
