Introduced in 1983, the coil-sprung One Ten – later renamed the Defender – was never meant to be posh, but incremental improvements crept in over the years. These latest models have better weatherproofing and corrosion resistance than earlier Defenders, plus ABS and Traction Control, low-down torque… in fact, they’re not at all bad to live with. Especially when they’re properly maintained and treated to a package of well-chosen modifications.
