The Car

First registered in Jaen, Southern Spain, on December 11, 1995, and delivered by Land Rover España SLU, this mid-series 300TDI is presented in a vintage Series paint scheme of Marine Blue – LRC006. The vehicle was repainted externally and internally during a cosmetic and mechanical restoration in 2022. The chassis remains in great original condition with no previous repairs and retains its factory rear crossmember.

The vehicle benefits from a comprehensive history file of receipts from the current owner’s tenure. Mechanically, it has been meticulously maintained. Recently, it received four new 235/85R16 B F Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 tires, along with a new spare wheel carrier and new clutch kit. Additionally, the vehicle underwent a service in June 2024, which included an oil and filter change. Being a 300TDI, it performs exceptionally well—dependable and never skipping a beat. This is a seriously competent Defender.

The interior has been fully re-trimmed with black leather and complemented by white stitching. The three-piece headliner has been reupholstered in factory-style beige cloth. The rear cargo area features a marine-inspired wooden deck, which is very durable and ideal for beach trips and accommodating kids and pets.

The CarFax report, available to interested parties, shows no financial encumbrances or accident damage. Externally, the bulkhead is in good condition with no rust in common locations. The footwells are original and show no signs of rust. Overall, the structural condition is exactly what you’d expect from a Defender from the southern Spanish market.

The current owner uses this Defender regularly as a daily driver, so we can assure you it’s mechanically ready to go without hesitation.

History Of The Land Rover

The Land Rover Series range was launched in 1948 and the model, now known as the Defender, was launched in 1983 and the continuous run finished in January 2016, after 67 years. Land Rovers were inspired by the US-built Willys Jeep immediately after the war and by 1992 they claimed that 70% of all the vehicles they had ever built were still in use. The Defender and Series ranges have had a unique international presence throughout the production run, having been exported, manufactured, and produced under license by a number of other manufacturers in a variety of markets, including Australia, Southern, and North Africa, Turkey, Brazil, Pakistan, and Malaysia, to name just a few.  In 1993 Land Rover decided to take the plunge into the US market after their successful launch of the Range Rover brand in 1987 in order to offer an upmarket alternative to the Jeep Wrangler targeted at adventurous buyers. Land Rover finally had to retract their offering from the North American and Canadian markets in 1997 due to economic viability. The Defenders offered in the US during the 90’s had to be significantly modified in comparison to Land Rover’s other export markets. Subsequent federal safety regulation amendments finally withdrew the Defender from the US market entirely in 1997, with Land Rover throwing their attention towards upmarket Discovery and Range Rover models that were being built from the ground up.
