One of the best driving XK 140 OTS we have ever experienced
This striking Jaguar XK140, finished in the quintessential British Racing Green, exudes timeless elegance and charm. The interior is meticulously trimmed in rich Sage Green hide, perfectly complemented by matching Green Wilton carpets that run seamlessly throughout the cabin and into the boot, adding to the car’s sophisticated allure. The 16-inch wire wheels are shod with Vredestein tyres, providing both performance and an iconic vintage aesthetic. The attention to detail continues with Sage Green seat belts, featuring classic webbing and chrome fittings, adorned with Jaguar mascots for that extra touch of luxury. The deleted bumpers and wider-profile wire wheels give the car a menacing, aggressive stance, making it a real head-turner on the road.
Originally built in November 1955 to OTS (Open Two Seater) specification as a left-hand drive model, this XK140 was brought back to the UK in the 1980s by a discerning collector. Upon its return, it underwent a conversion to right-hand drive, tailored to British roads while retaining its classic Jaguar heritage. In 2010, after passing through only two more owners, the car was sent to the experts at Prestige Paintworks for a no-expense-spared restoration. Over 1,000 man-hours were poured into this project, with every aspect of the car receiving painstaking attention. The results speak for themselves, with flawless door fitment and gleaming coachwork that showcases the exceptional craftsmanship involved.
No detail was overlooked during the restoration. The body was removed from the chassis, and any areas needing new metalwork were carefully attended to, while the timber framework was also replaced. The steering was upgraded with a hydraulic PAS system for improved handling, chosen over the more common EZ system for superior performance. To ensure the car remains cool under pressure, an enlarged radiator was installed, along with a rear-mounted cooling fan, both keeping the engine looking period-correct without compromising performance.
The engine itself was rebuilt by the renowned specialists at CKL of East Sussex, ensuring that it runs as smoothly and powerfully as when it first left the factory. The trimming was expertly carried out by Suffolk & Turley of Nuneaton, known for their top-tier craftsmanship, using only the finest materials to restore the interior to its original splendor. This combination of superior restoration work by leading experts in their fields has resulted in a vehicle that not only looks stunning but is mechanically and aesthetically flawless.
This XK140 is more than just a beautifully restored classic—it’s a masterpiece of British motoring history. With its perfect blend of classic design, modern upgrades, and meticulous restoration, this Jaguar is ready for the road, offering its next owner a truly special driving experience. Whether admired for its show-stopping looks or appreciated for its exceptional handling and performance, this is a car that will capture the heart of any true enthusiast. Now available for viewing at the DD Classics Dealership in London, please call 0208 878 33 55 to book an appointment.
