A very striking classic, the Jaguar E-type. Elegant, sporty and with a lot of class. In general, it can be said that the first series of the sports car introduced in 1961 can be described as the most popular. It is the version Malcolm Sayer originally intended, with the small taillights placed above the bumper. From the second series they were placed lower and, due to American regulations, the beautiful headlight glasses that provided a very smooth appearance at the front disappeared. All not the case with this 'first series' OTS that rolled off the production line on May 15, 1964, and was handed over to the first owner ten days later at Jaguar Cars in New York.
This is an E-type 3.8 Liter, which means that under the hood there is a very powerful 3.8 liter six-cylinder with three SU carburetors. Good for 265 hp and a top speed of no less than 241 km/h. Yet, it is especially the smooth and impressive way in which the ear-pleasing six-cylinder does its job that stands out. The considerable power is brought to the rear wheels via a manual four-speed gearbox, wonderful! If you open the huge bonnet forward, you have a view of a fantastic engine block. The polished valve cover on the gold-colored engine block, the incredibly beautiful carburetors and excellent manifolds.
The matching numbers E-type, as witnessed by the Heritage certificate, has been amazingly restored, to the highest standard and in a fantastic color combination. The exterior color is the original, called Opalescent Maroon. The body, which came from America, was practically rust-free. Nevertheless, the car was completely tackled, including the engine completely disassembled. The original four-speed gearbox has been replaced by a five-speed gearbox for more comfort and the special exhaust ensures better exhaust fumes removal and also sounds beautiful. Driving this Jag is fantastic. The brakes are just as good, with beautiful discs and calipers from Girling. Although we advise you to keep this car in this super condition, there is one thing that we want to emphasize to you even more: driving this car is the most fun!
The interior is finished in a beautiful natural shade and covered with the finest leathers and materials. The upholstery has been chosen very stylishly, so that the leather is new but does not seem too new. The rest of the interior, from carpet to dashboard, gauges and controls, is also as good as new.
As is often the case with classic cars of this caliber, the car was handled with care after the restoration. This E-type has indeed been used after its restoration, something that is only good for a car, but with care. The result is that with this E-type you only have to do one thing after purchase: turn the key, let the English power source come to life and enjoy!
We are impressed by the quality of this E-type. The documentation that comes with the car certainly does not disappoint and is characterized by a thick folder of maintenance invoices, the Heritage certificate and a number of parts such as the original nameplate.
