• Significant recent investment
• Attractive options like alloy wheels and a hardtop
• Impressive documentation

We are proud to offer this stunning Innocenti Spider 1100S from 1963, a rare gem guaranteed to turn heads. Designed by Ghia and built by OSI, this model marked the debut of Tom Tjaarda's designs for Ghia, the renowned creator of the iconic De Tomaso Pantera. The Spider combines the British chassis of the Austin-Healey Sprite with a refined Italian body, resulting in a unique and timeless convertible.

This model is equipped with the rare 1100cc engine option (most models featured a 950cc engine), delivering an exceptional driving experience. The engine, derived from the BMC A40, was upgraded to 1098cc, producing 58 hp, allowing a top speed of 145 km/h. Starting in 1963, the Spider also featured front disc brakes and subtle aesthetic updates.

Ferdinando Innocenti, renowned for Lambretta scooters, aimed to introduce an affordable yet stylish convertible. The Spider reflects the classic design language of the era, featuring rear-wheel drive and subtle rear fins. Production took place at OSI near Milan, with final assembly at the Innocenti factory in Lambrate.

With only 2,047 units of this "S" model produced, primarily for the Italian market, this car is an exceptionally rare find.

Features and Highlights:

- Fully restored, with body repainted in its original color (2021/2022).
- Engine revised and tuned: bored to 1150cc with 70 hp, featuring a sharper camshaft, twin SU carburetors, new pistons, valves, bearings, and K&N air filters.
- Recent investment of approximately €20,000.
- 13-inch Minator alloy wheels (original steel wheels optionally available).
- Chrome parts restored or replaced (€2,900).
- Rare fully restored hardtop available

History and Documentation:

This Spider was delivered new in Italy (May 1963), where it remained until 1989 in a dry, sunny climate. It underwent an extensive restoration between 1990 and 1994 by a German enthusiast. In 1997, this specific Spider S was featured in an article in the magazine Motor Klassik, a copy of which is included in the extensive documentation.

In 2021, the current owner undertook a comprehensive technical and cosmetic overhaul, preparing the car for the European Healey Meeting 2023.

The documentation includes:

- TÜV reports and invoices.
- German registration papers and ownership history.
- Technical and historical documentation, including manuals and a parts book.
- The Motor Klassik (1997) article about this specific Spider S.

Conclusion:

This 1963 Innocenti Spider S 1100 combines refined Italian design with impressive technical performance and a fascinating history. It is a rare opportunity to own a fully restored, well-documented classic. With the optional fully restored hardtop, this car offers an even more exclusive and elegant appearance.
