Descripción

1962 Fiat 2300S coupé, registered in Bologna the 5th June 1962: it is one of the first samples of the first series of the great coupe from Turin with its simple and elegant shape typical of a true GT. The first owner drove the car up to the mid 80s, then the car passed to the current owner purchased it, parked into the garage, not used since some years. In the first 2000s, the car underwent a general preservative restoration, followed by our trusted workshop.

​It is an elegant coupé launched by Fiat in 1961 to oppose the italian rivals Lancia Flaminia and Alfa Romeo 2600: the modern shape was designed by Carrozzeria Ghia, fluent thanks to long windows and a rounded rear window that “grabbed”the sides.  The 6 cylinders was offered with single or double carburetor. The car we offer is the S version, so with two Webers, that allow a top speed of 190 km/h thanks to 136hp. It was an expensive car (2.600.000 Lire) sold mainly to businessmen who loved sports GTs and high speed driving. The interior is luxurious, refined with a top quality leather and comfortable accessories.

When we found the car it was complete of all its rare details: nowadays it’s  almost impossible to find many of them. The body has been refreshed even if the car didn’t have problems od rust. The black leather interior was in good shape and has just partially refurbished: seats were upholstered recently because while carpeting is still the original. 

​The mechanic was in good shape: it has been dismounted, checked, serviced, changed the old gaskets and hoses, put a new head gasket and overhauled the carburetors. Suspensions, braking system, electrical, transmission were checked and overhauled at the same time. Its good shape was confirmed by the low mileage (127.000 kms) and a long period of stop.

The car still has its original accessories mounted by the first owner, as the foglights, the electric aerial, the safety belts and the Frigette air conditioner (some parts are dismounted but come with the car).

After the restoration, the car was just used just for some regularity races and meetings: there the owner appreciated the sporty temper not common on a 62 years old car. The 6 cylinders has a good torque from low revs but it also overflows up to high revs. It brakes well thanks to the four discs activated by the servo assisted master-cylinder; the 4 speed gearbox is precise, as well. 

​First green “libretto” with original license plates, foglio complementare, owner's manual and ASI homologation with gold plate. This wonderful and performing 2300S can be seen in Bologna by appointment.
