Descripción

1935 Austin 12/4 Eaton DHC with Dickey
Chassis number: 19259
Registration number: SX3964
This car was purchased new from Bo'Ness Austin dealer Geo Ainslie & son by a lady; One Miss Isabella M. Rowe. A lady not given to variety, she kept the car until 1963 covering during that time a scant 41,000 miles. Upon her passing the car went to her Nephew who used it until 1967 and simply dry stored it leaving it in the utterly original condition we find it in today with now 43,000 miles covered.
The car came to us on its original green log book & we have just applied for a modern V5 despite being almost loathe to do so. This is a time warp low mileage car which is untouched from new save for a new hood as the old one had simply got to the unuseable state. The car comes with its original side screens & original upholstery in super lightly patinated condition.
We have recommissioned the car & it is now running beautifully. The hood is a simple affair lowering after releasing two catches. The dickey folds open allowing for tesco grocery bags to be carried in comfort, or passengers to be carried in mild discomfort. We have not a scrap of paperwork with the car other then the original green log book which we found in the car when collecting it from the garage of the estate sale of the deceased property owner.
The whole car has a delightful veneer of patination to it & could be described as "Oily Rag" condition, but really it is too good for attachment of so coarse a moniker. The seats coverings are completely intact & ready for the next 100 or so K.
The engine starts readily & runs with good oil pressure. The car has a whole has a low mileage feel to it & is simply a pleasure to meander down B roads in. The 4 speed gear box is light & easy to use equipped as it is with synchromesh. The windscreen folds open allowing a pleasant draught of air to keep one cool. The runs easily at 50mph running cool & exhibiting good oil pressure.
"Dans son Jus" Would be an apt description for this original & unmolested car. We previously sold it three years ago & since then it has performed utterly relaiably, had new tyres fitted & been used just occasionally on special days for outings from the current owners small collection in Dumfries.
