Description

YHR 985E has come to us all the way from Pembrokeshire, South Wales where it has been with its one UK owner since 2021. Prior to that the Mustang Coupe was in California and it comes with an extensive history dating back to the early 1980’s. Rebuilt in California in 2004, the Mustang has had further considerable expense since, in 2010 and 2011 the car had a further high level of paintwork and mechanical work.

This Mustang comes with an impressive specification, the file confirms a rebuilt C4 transmission, power steering, power brakes, Crager S/S chrome wheels, factory air-conditioning, Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley 4 Barrell performance carb, Breakerless electronic ignition, Black ‘Mustang' rocker arm covers and Posi-Traction rear axle. At restoration point the Mustang had a new fuel tank, radiator, custom dual exhaust, KYB gas shocks, new suspension to include upper control arms, bushes and coil springs and the interior features a new steering wheel, new upper and lower dash pads, arm rests, pillar pads and door sill mouldings.

When sold in the UK in 2021 by a Ford Mustang specialist, the car was fitted with new seat foams and covers, and since then around £5000 has been spent on the car. Work with a Mustang specialists include carrying out an engine and service and tune, new filters and ignition items, fitting three point seat belts, new windscreen seal and removing the dash and gauges and assembling new Dakota digital gauges to fit into a new bezel. The Mustang specialists fitted a new oil and temperature gauge, new speedo senders and the relevant new wiring looms. On installation of the new gauge cluster, the speedo was calibrated and the car road tested.

The Mustang has arrived with as a very usable, structurally excellent example. The paint has faded and looks relatively flat on the bonnet, boot and roof, almost a very original look, and on the whole it presents very nicely as an honest, well kept car. The inteiror is beautifully finished, its incredibly sharp. The Mustang is mechanically impressive, the engine and gearbox are excellent and its clear from the extensive history that this car has been very maintained over the past 40 years.
