Beschreibung

This beautifully presented Porsche 911SC is a full history car that has recently been subject of a program of work that has cost almost £70,000. Our 911 with factory fitted sunroof was supplied new by Dick Lovett on the 29th April 1983 and the original service booklet is with the car containing 26 stamps to 2016 at 169281 miles. Having been a working 911 most of its life, the Porsche was converted into a rally specification and when purchased in 2016 it was prepared for the Scottish Malts rally covering around 1000 miles across the Highlands. Having passed this test with flying colours, the car was then taken over to Iceland for the HERO Icelandic Saga Rally where the 911 once again proved to be robust, reliable and fantastic fun over eight days of driving. A much tougher rally, hard core at times, the 911 finished well with 30% of the crews dropping out or their cars failing. Potholes, gravel, volcanic rock, this was a challenge for any car. ‘911 and Porsche World’ featured the car after its challenging event which now makes a nice addition to the very extensive, impressive history file.

After competing in Iceland the 911 spent most of its time in storage but in late 2020 had around £8000 spent on anti-roll bar bushes, drop links, top damper mounts, front and rear brake discs and pads, various new brake pipes, various new air pipes and oil pipe, Blaupunkt radio, new bonnet struts and four new tyres. However, the car had next to no use, and then with almost 175,000 miles covered, the major program of restoration work began with a staggering total of £70,000 spent. The 911 is now running in after this serious expenditure. Mechanically the Porsche was subject to an engine and gearbox rebuild with a Porsche 911 specialists costing £12000 alone. Further to the engine rebuild the Porsche had a brand new clutch, flywheel, SSI exhaust system and heater exchange set. Other mechanical work included a pair of new Bilstein shock absorbers, front dampers, a new CDI ignition module and new front to rear oil cooler pipes.

In order to finish the car to a high standard, the Porsche was stripped down with windows out to a rolling shell and bodywork carried out as required. The 911 SC was then completely re-painted in its original Guards Red. The car was then built up and put back to an original road car having had many rally features to include plastic windows. A huge level of expenditure went into new screens seals, moulding kits, driver and passenger window glass, window switches, switch surrounds, window mechanisms, window lift rails, electric window motors, new door seals, bumper trims, scuttle seals, velvet seals, bumper corners, various new catches, door seals, boot lid and new rear lights unit. On completion of the bodywork, paintwork and rebuild, the alloy wheels were then re-furbished. To finish the Porsche off to a beautiful standard it was then superbly re-upholstered. The seats have been re-trimmed with Royal Black leather with embossed centres with eyelets, the door cards beautifully trimmed to match and brand new ‘Superwool' carpets also fitted. Rear quarter panels were also trimmed in leather and the finish is truly outstanding.

UUY 601Y is finished to a beautiful standard with exceptional bodywork and paint, an outstanding interior and with its rebuilt engine, gearbox and recent mechanical expenditure, it is ready to be driven and enjoyed. The car drives superbly, the super fit freshly rebuilt engine offers excellent performance, the gearbox is a delight to use and the car handles and feels sharp, responsive and fantastic fun. This very sharp, high quality example has been brought back to life with its recent renovation and with its full history, extensive invoice file, touring pedigree, and of course the recent major work, this is a fantastic car that's literally running in fresh from its major work.
