Beschreibung

The Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe stands out as a distinguished model within the E-Type series, celebrated for its refined performance and timeless design, which many consider the most desirable among the E-Type variations. Crafted by Jaguar Cars Ltd, this classic sports car is renowned for its iconic appearance and engaging driving dynamics.

Powered by a 4.2-litre inline-six engine, the E-Type Series 1 4.2 FHC delivers balanced and potent performance, representing an improvement over its predecessors. The Fixed Head Coupe variant, featuring a fixed hardtop roof, contributes to a sleek and elegant aesthetic. Distinctive design elements such as covered headlights and the famous elongated bonnet characterise this model.

The E-Type underwent significant updates, including the adoption of the 4.2-litre engine and improvements in features such as more comfortable reclining seats and upgraded braking systems. These changes mark a pivotal moment in the evolution of the E-Type series.

Beyond its design and performance, the E-Type Series 1 4.2 FHC holds historical significance and is recognised as a sought-after collectable. Its enduring appeal lies in the combination of timeless design, robust performance, and limited production numbers.

Available for purchase at Hilton & Moss, this 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 FHC is finished in the stunning shade of Opalescent Dark Blue with Dark Blue interior trim. Notably, this particular model distinguishes itself with the inclusion of Vicarage-style competition wire wheels, replacing the standard painted wire wheels. These wheels not only enhance the car's aesthetic appeal but also introduce upgraded handling and a touch of sophistication to its exterior.

Originally registered in the UK in August 1965 as a home-market original RHD car, this vehicle underwent a full restoration from 2015 to 2017 by leading Jaguar restorers XK Engineering.

Originally purchased as a project by a band member of an internationally known British rock band and well-known car collector, who subsequently decided mid-way through the restoration to concentrate on building his historic Ferrari and Maserati collection, and thus put the E-Type up for sale. The car was then acquired when the bodywork had been restored/repainted using the original shell/panels in its original colour of Opalescent Silver Blue. The engine and gearbox had also been restored. The car came with all of its original parts that were reconditioned and used in the restoration.

At this point, the owner engaged XK Engineering (acknowledged as one of the best restorers of E-Types in the world) to finish the project. This included changing the colour to the highly desirable shade of Opalescent Dark Blue as part of the full restoration. The aim was to keep the car as original as possible to when it was delivered in 1965, with the inclusion of some industry-accepted upgrades to enhance the driving experience.

Sympathetic and tasteful upgrades installed on the car as part of the XK Engineering restoration include an upgraded performance radiator, Kenlowe fan kit, full stainless-steel exhaust, adjustable Koni suspension, Kunifer brake lines, Series 2 brake pads, Vicarage-style competition alloy wheels, Halogen headlamps, aluminium 3.8-style dash, uprated windscreen wipers, new wiring loom, uprated fuel pump, USB port, and battery cut-off switch. These upgrades elevate the driving experience, making the car an absolute joy to drive.

The car is presented in fabulous condition, having covered only 3,500 miles since the full restoration. Included with the car is the Jaguar Heritage Trust certification confirming the car's authenticity as a matching numbers vehicle. The car also benefits from a comprehensive leather-bound history file with information dating back to its first registration in 1965 and is even supplied with its hard-to-find original Buff logbook.

Since the restoration, the car has been stored at a professional storage facility. After initially being maintained and serviced by XK Engineering, the car has been entrusted to K&N Classic Cars (an E-Type specialist) for regular maintenance and servicing.

This E-Type not only looks stunning but is also a very usable car, reflecting the commitment to both aesthetic and mechanical excellence. Underside inspection can be arranged upon request for additional peace of mind during the purchasing process. Reported as one of the best-driving E-Types on the road today by marque specialists, a sentiment echoed by members of the Hilton & Moss team, this E-Type should be at the very top of a prospective purchaser’s list.

Available now for viewing and demonstration at our Bishop’s Stortford showrooms.
