The company Steirische Fahrzeugwerke A.G. located in Puntigam near Graz in Austria was founded to design and produce light motorcycles such as scooters and motorized bicycles. For this they designed and produced a single-cylinder 2-stroke engine with a displacement of 82cc intended to be used as an auxiliary engine for bicycles and the peculiarity of this use lies in the positioning of these engines, which were placed at the front on the left, supported by an additional tubular structure applied to the bicycle frame and mounted coaxially to the front wheel. Another interesting detail of this original engine consists in the absolute lack of electrical contacts or spark plugs but a low voltage magnetic ignition with contact breaker inside the cylinder head.
