Magnificent Pininfarina body
In 1969, two legends of Italian automotive history joined forces to craft something truly extraordinary: the Fiat Dino 2400. Revealed at the Turin Motor Show, this car wasn’t just an upgrade; it was a revolution. With its powerful 2.4-litre V6 engine, independent rear suspension, and a host of enhancements to improve safety, comfort, and drivability, the Dino 2400 redefined what a stylish, high-performance car could be. At its heart lies a 180 hp engine—the very same masterpiece that powered Ferrari’s iconic Dino 246 GT. This was no coincidence; the Fiat Dino 2400 embodies a collaboration between Fiat and Ferrari, with a shared vision to create something exceptional. As a result, by late 1969, these cars were assembled on Ferrari’s production line in Maranello, side by side with the legendary 246 GT. And then there’s its rarity: with only 420 examples of the 2400 Spider ever produced, this car is a true collector’s dream.
Our Fiat Dino 2.4 Spider, with only 420 examples ever produced, is by far the rarest model in the Fiat Dino lineup. It was manufactured during the four-year production run from 1969 to 1973. As the ultimate version of the Fiat Dino, it is incomparable to the earlier 2.0 Spider—this is simply a completely different car. For instance, the 2.4 Spider features a more robust cast-iron engine block instead of the aluminum block used in the 2.0, significantly improving the durability and build quality of its legendary Ferrari V6. Additionally, the 2.4 replaced the 2.0's solid rear axle with independent rear suspension, offering much greater driving comfort. The transmission also saw a major upgrade, with a new 5-speed dogleg gearbox supplied by ZF. Perhaps most notably, instead of being built in Fiat’s Turin factory, the 2.4 Spider was produced by Ferrari in Maranello. In terms of build quality, sound, performance, and design, this car undeniably feels more like a Ferrari than a Fiat. And this Ferrari legacy is not only heard in the wonderful sound but also noticeable in driving. Driving this Dino 2400 Spider is a pure delight for any driving enthusiast. Compact enough to enjoy on winding, narrow roads yet spacious and comfortable for longer journeys, it strikes a perfect balance. The five-speed gearbox shifts effortlessly, the light and precise steering provides excellent control, and the strong brakes inspire confidence in every situation. Its handling is beautifully balanced, staying composed even during spirited drives. At its heart lies the 65-degree V6 engine, producing a magnificent sound reminiscent of a miniature Ferrari V12.
The heart of the car, the 65-degree V6 engine, produces a magnificent sound reminiscent of a miniature Ferrari V12. This is your chance to get your hands on a piece of history of the legendary collaboration between Fiat and Ferrari. This stunning Spider is now available from Rock 'N Roll Classics.
