Description

The story of the Dolomite starts in 1936 when, facing bankruptcy, Triumph launched a new range of models headed by the Dolomite, powered by a brand new, all alloy overhead valve 1767cc engine with crossflow cylinder heads designed by Donald Healey. The cars featured the famous waterfall grille by Walter Belgrove and on the roadster models, a fold out rear 'dicky' seat.

This rare Triumph Dolomite Roadster 14/65 is finished in gleaming red with beige hide interior. This example is one of just 12 examples in existence, only half of which are road going! The first owner of this example is not known however, we do know the car has had just four owners from new, the second owner purchased the car in 1951/2 from Chequered Garage in Chiswick, London and he sold the car in 1964. The car remained in the same family, passing from father to son until 2019 and it has had owner since then. This is a particularly fine example with matching chassis and engine numbers and it is presented in outstanding condition throughout with excellent body and paintwork, perfect carpets and leather, with the car running and driving beautifully. It comes with a nice history which includes a handbook, an invoice from Pilkington for the windscreen, photocopy of a book showing this car, a handwritten history of this car, workshop manual and a V5 registration document. A scarce opportunity to acquire one of the rarest British open top sportscars ever made. Consigned by James Good
