Description

1913 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Rois Des Belges Tourer.
Chassis Number: 37MA
Registration Number: ES1392
A spectacular 1913 Silver Ghost ghost out of recent restoration with some 1000 shakedown miles having been put on it since the new Rois Des Belges body was fitted. The body was fabricated by noted Silver Ghost expert James Black in Northern Ireland & has superbly elegant lines to it.
The current owner purchased the car as an unfinished project & set about creating the ultimate driving Edwardian ghost. The engine has been fully rebuilt to as new standards & runs in silence. It was sourced to replace the original engine which is currently fitted to 1913 Silver Ghost Chassis number 2371 the swap having ocurred many decades ago.
The body is resplendent in pale cream with dutch pink style vertical stripes in a darker shade of cream suiting the car very well indeed. To the interior it brand new tan hide throughout along with a beige canvas roof and matching hood bag. Leather straps secure the roof to the front wings when in the raised position. Tan carpets are found underfoot to the rear with polished wood floor boards to the front.
The car sits on warland style wooden artillery wheels shod with new tyres & are of the detatchable rim style with a runniing board mounted spare rim to the drivers side.
The re-cored radiator is a low brass item matching the brass lamps & parallel style bonnet fittings. The bonnet itself is left in raw aluminium as is the bulkhead & suits the paint scheme very well giving a very edwardian look to the whole ensemble. A period RAC bage sits atop the Radiator, but we can easily supply a spirit of ecstacy item if preferred.
The engine having been fully rebuilt starts intantly & runs in silence. The 4 speed gear box was also rebuilt & is a pleasure to use. Being a late 2013 car it benefits from the large drum twin shoe layout you only got after late 2013. This Ghost has possibly the lightest steering of any ghost I have driven, being finger light, precise & a pleasure to guide the car with. Indeed the whole car has been set up with the idea of long distance touring in mind being more pleasant & easier to drive than the current owners other more original Ghost.
This is a big upright & imposing ghost that creates a stir wherever it appears. It is fully sorted the restoration having been recently completed & wants for nothing. It is capable of reliably covering huge distance in comfort & in silence.
Viewings are by prior appointment near Nottingham.
