> RS upgrades of the 2001 season

This handsome example of Porsche’s groundbreaking 911 GT3-R was delivered new to Italian GT team ART Engineering, in whose hands it enjoyed considerable success. At the A-1 Ring 500 kilometres—the first round of the 2000 FIA GT Championship—Fabio Mancini and Gianni Collini drove the car to a fine N-GT class win. This came ahead of stiff class opposition from fellow Porsche teams EMKA, Larbre, and Red Bull Racing. Other notable results that year included 7th in class at Brno, 8th at Magny-Cours, and 10th at Lausitzring.

For 2001, ART retained the services of future Ferrari test driver, Andrea Bertolini. At Zolder, Bertolini and co-driver Alberto Radaelli scored a noteworthy 11th overall and 5th in class; the pair also finished 8th in class at Silverstone. Later, Bertolini and Jirko Malcharek repeated this result at Hungaroring.

Following the car’s competitive swansong in the 2003 Vallelunga 6 Hours—in which it was campaigned by Tirelli Motorsport, finishing 8th overall and 4th in class.
After this last active season, it was sold to a collector. He ordered a rebuilt by Modena Classic Works in 2006. Since this time it was part of collections and only used for demonstration runs. The car is very original and even still has it's first original race seat. Perfect collector car or candidate for return to the track in the Masters Endurance Legends or Peter Auto Endurance Racing Legends series to which it is ideally suited.
