Description

This special Porsche 911 GT1 endurance racer was build in 1997 by Roland 'Gäddhultar' Gingtorp in Sweden to special order by Alex Buch-Larsen.

The GT1 special was no showpony and enjoyed immediate success after its build with Alex Buch-Larsen winning the 1997 and 1999 Danish Special Saloon Championship campaigning this car. To underline the superior build of this Porsche, it would go on to win the Danish National Championship once more in 2001 in the hands of Finn Jespersen.

The original Porsche 911 GT1 that this car is based on was a homologation special built to dominate endurance racing, bridging the gap between road and track. Unlike traditional 911s, the GT1 featured a mid-engine layout, making it a true race-bred supercar. Developed for FIA GT1 competition, Porsche produced around 25 street-legal “Strassenversion” models to meet homologation requirements.

The racing counterpart of the 911 GT1 clinched Le Mans victory in 1998, and to this day, the road-going 911 GT1 remains one of Porsche’s rarest and most extreme supercars, embodying the pinnacle of 1990s endurance racing technology.

With a lightweight carbon-fiber and aluminum chassis, the GT1 could sprint from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 307 km/h.

Unobtainable then, and very rarely for sale now,  this special build 1997 911 GT1 promises the same thrilling experience together with great racing history at a fraction of the cost.

A tubular frame and a 3.0Litre Biturbo engine delivers a a maximum of 640HP at 7460rpm confirmed by the rolling road tests that follow the car.

The GT1 is reported to have been used for 52 hours from new and is in good fundamental condition throughout, with many new parts added over the years. A spare set of alloy wheels follow the car.

The last outing for the Porsche 911 GT1 was at the 2022 Copenhagen Classic Grand Prix.

This is a unique opportunity to acquire a fabulous re-creation of an iconic long distance racer, with genuine thrilling performance along with racing pedigree, at a fraction of the cost of one of the original GT1s.
