Description

1934 Morris 10/6 Special
Registration Number: KV9390
Chassis Number: 32257
The Morris Ten Six Special sports displayed at Olympia in October 1933 had a long bonnet with a strap, louvred valances by the frame without running boards, low-sloping or cutaway doors, and a flared back with a low tail. Its chassis was as the Ten Six with twin carburettors, a special radiator with stone-guard, spring steering wheel, special speedometer and revolution indicator, remote gearbox control, two horns, an electric petrol pump and automatic ignition advance. It was made for only two years with this example being a late one from 1934. Just three are recorded on the UK morris Register & also one bodied by Cunard is known to survive out of the handful still in existence.
This car was purchased in derelict condition some 30 or so years ago by the current octogenarian owner. He then set about a nut & bolt 9 year restoration to bring it to the very lovely condition we find it in today. No stone was left unturned & a photo file comes with the car detailing the extensive engine & body off rebuild.
The hood is made of very high grade BMW hood material. The seats are new blue leather along with blue carpets. The original Morris coachwork is capacious enough to carry 4 adults in comfort. The car is equipped with a full set of side screens which keep the breeze out when driving with the roof down & the hood stows neatly into a hood bag of matching material.
Traces of the original paint colours were found during restoration & the car has been repainted in its original colours. The slight scuff to the passenger side rear wing is being redone prior to sale by the shop that painted the car. The odometer was zeroed at the time of restoration & now reads 9,326 trouble free miles with the fresh engine having beeen carefully run in. Being a six cylinder unit with twin carbs's it is a paragon of smoothness & a pleasure to use.
During restoration new ash framing was fabricated to replace the old rotten woodwork including rear scuttle & doors. The engine rebuild was extensive including new pistons, & a reground crank etc. The car is absolutely ready to go & is a credit to the current owner who employed assorted speciaists during the restoration. The onset of old age now necessitates the sale or this lovely little motor car. The costs of the restoration & the thousands of man hours put into it vastly exceed the asking price.
