Description

Our MGB GT was built on the 23rd-25th October 1972 and supplied new in Lancashire by Kennings Limited, Burnley. The GT left the factory with overdrive, servo assisted brakes and inertia reel seat belts and comes with a huge, detailed comprehensive history file dating back to the early 1980’s. Interestingly, the MGB had its first major program of work in 1981 with the invoice on file for bodywork and re-painting. Invoices for maintenance continue throughout the 1980’s, 1990’s and 2000’s and by 2009 the car was having a sympathetic restoration.

Although on the road, by 2018 the MG was in need of bodywork and various restoration work. The car was stripped down, in many places taken back to bare metal and various new panels to include rear quarters, wings, and A pillars were replaced. Inner and outer arches were renewed and the car then professionally re-painted. The engine was stripped and rebuilt and then re-fitted to the car and the interior was very nicely re-trimmed. The body was fitted with up with various new brightwork, trims, seals and glass, a set of Minilight style wheels fitted with new tyres and various upgrades fitted to include a Revotech fan, oil cooler, a stainless steel exhaust system and new Gaz adjustable shocks.

In 2022 the MGB GT was purchased for £19000 by customers of ours who reside in Germany, with a holiday home in West Sussex just a few miles from Goodwood. The GT has been kept in dry indoor storage and used for local touring in Sussex when over here on holiday. Our initial inspection was carried out at their home, and on test drive into the beautiful rural Sussex roads the MGB GT performed perfectly. The MG arrived with us in the Autum of 2024 and we quickly sold the MG to one of our regular customers in Cumbria, a long term MG enthusiast. Having enjoyed some faultless closed top motoring, he's has now decided to go for a Roadster for the summer months so the MGB GT returns in part exchange. The engine holds excellent oil pressure and offers impressive performance, the four speed overdrive gearbox is lovely and smooth and the car handles and brakes well. Its tight on the road, feels very fresh and is great fun. FXC 631L presents equally as well, the paintwork, bodywork and trim are beautiful throughout, the engine bay nicely detailed so the car is ready to drive away and enjoy without hesitation.
