A Mercedes-Benz SL from the 80s is a delightful classic that offers the right combination of elegance, luxury, comfort, and solidity. At the time of writing, it is 27 degrees outside, and this beautiful SL is looking at us in the showroom. All we want to do is get in and drive. This car really invites you to do so! Moreover, this is one of the best examples we currently have in our inventory because this SL has an unparalleled maintenance history, more on that later.

The engineers at Mercedes-Benz faced a difficult task. Why? When you have a successful model in your lineup, how do you design its successor? The Mercedes-Benz Pagoda W113 is still a highly sought-after Mercedes that offers a number of key combinations of high comfort, solid and robust construction, and an elegant body. That was and still is the formula for success. The question now is: did the engineers manage to surpass this success? According to us, the answer is without a doubt: yes! The R107 was completely new and redefined the sporty and luxurious class. With an even wider range of engines that drove more smoothly and were already proven, Mercedes had once again a winning formula. Passive safety was a significant improvement in the R107, and for example, the fuel tank was mounted behind the rear axle, which resulted in significantly safer situations in a collision.

Our example is a fantastic representation of how a Mercedes R107 should be. The color, although subjective, complements the car excellently and emphasizes the elegance of the model. Here's the good news: over the past five years, more than 35,000 euros has been invested in this particular example! All the receipts are present, with a focus on original Mercedes-Benz parts. A small selection of what has been replaced: shock absorbers, all rubbers and joints of the chassis, water pump, soft top, steering box overhaul, wheel bearings all around, all injectors, heater motor, complete stainless-steel exhaust, and so on. Therefore, it needs no further explanation that this 380 SL is in excellent technical condition.

The body is in very good condition. For cosmetic reasons, the car was resprayed, and it looks fantastic. The rubber parts were also replaced, giving the whole car an exceptional quality look. The fit of the various body parts is very good, and windows, bumpers, and rims are in almost impeccable condition. Inside, we find high-quality leather upholstery and carpets in new condition. This is not surprising, as these parts were recently replaced.

Driving this Mercedes gives us two things: we go back to 1982 and experience how a Mercedes SL should drive. On the other hand, we imagine ourselves on a boulevard in the sun with a delightful breeze. This example drives as it should, without compromises, and ensures that the engine runs fantastically. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly, and the high quality of this example makes it one of the best on the market.
