Description
At Mercedes, the task at the beginning of the 1960s was to fill a sporting legacy of the 190 SL and 300 SL models. The new player from 1963 was the 230 SL, also called the “Pagoda”. The engineers’ aim of developing a sports two-seater with high performance, optimum handling combined with high ride comfort was fully achieved. The special feature was the soft top: when opened, it disappeared under a flap so that the hardtop (optional extra!) could easily be put on. Continuous further development led via the 250 SL to the 280 SL. From January 1968 to March 1971, 23,885 examples were built.
Our Mercedes-Benz 280 SL was delivered to the USA and was owned by a lady there who only used the sports car from time to time. The current owner acquired it as a good used classic car, but he decided to have it completely restored. The contract for this was awarded to a renowned specialist company. After that, the 280 SL has driven about 2,000 km and is nowoffered by us in almost perfect condition. This really is a top-quality product that comes pretty close to new condition.
The classic will arrive soon.
