Description

The vehicle originated from Portugal and was used there until 2010. As a result of a seizure due to the previous owner's tax debts, the vehicle was auctioned off by the state and thus returned to Germany. Prior to this, a complete restoration had already been carried out, leaving the classic car in an almost like-new condition.

Many awards, including Best of Show at the Concours d'Elegance Schloss Dennenlohe 2022, confirm the excellent condition of the vehicle. The Mercedes-Benz W 18 was introduced in 1933 under the name Mercedes-Benz Type 290 as the successor to the Type 350 / 370 Mannheim with a smaller M 18 engine.

The car was available from the factory as a four-door touring car, four-door sedan, three- or four-seater Cabriolet A, B, C, and D (with two or four doors), a Kübelwagen (for the Wehrmacht), or as a bare chassis. Its side-valve inline six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2867 cm³ produces 60 hp (44 kW) and propels the vehicle to a top speed of 108 km/h. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels, which are mounted on a swing axle and suspended by coil springs, via a four-speed gearbox (with overdrive 1:0.73). The front axle features a transverse leaf spring and additional coil springs. The car is equipped with hydraulic brakes on all four wheels.

One year after the model series was introduced, models with a long chassis became available. Factory-built versions included a six-seater touring car, four-door sedan, Cabriolets A, B, D, and F (Pullman cabriolet), a Pullman limousine, a streamlined limousine, a roadster, and a bare chassis. Some special roadsters were also built. Instead of the four-speed gearbox with overdrive, the long versions had a full four-speed gearbox. They reached a top speed of 103 km/h. In 1937, the model series was replaced by the Type 320. (Source: Wikipedia)
