Description

**The Mercedes W111 Coupe **was presented as the successor to the Ponton Coupe series in February 1961 and started as the 220 SE Coupe. It was based on the W111 platform, the so-called tail fin. The coupes are technically equivalent to the sedans and remained in the range until May 1971, six years longer than their four-door sister models. Unlike the sedans, they do not have fashionable tail fins, but have a lower roof line, and therefore appear more elegant and timeless overall, which gave them classic status much earlier. This timelessness also meant that they could be built virtually unchanged in parallel with the successors to the 111 sedans, the S-Classes of the W 108/W 109 series. The W111 Coupe was offered with a variety of engines. Six-cylinder engines were offered as the 220 SE, 250 SE and 280 SE, and eight-cylinder engines as the 280 SE 3.5. The 3.5 V8 engine with 200 hp was the crowning glory. During the last major model update in 1969, the front was redesigned. The radiator grille was made wider and flatter, and the hood was more flat. Collectors refer to these models as “flat radiators” and they were produced in small numbers.

**This is just such a vehicle. **The vehicle we are offering was first delivered in Switzerland in May 1970. The vehicle comes with a stamped service booklet, which shows that it has covered 156,400 km. The vehicle has been partially restored, the paintwork has been renewed, and the technology has been overhauled or extensively serviced. The interior is completely original, the leather has no damage whatsoever and has an incredibly beautiful patina, and the carpet and chrome are also original. The color combination of dark green (plain) and bamboo leather is very elegant and suits the vehicle excellently. As the car was delivered in Switzerland, it was ordered in the French version, so it still has the yellow halogen lamps, which suits the vehicle immensely. The wood and paintwork were professionally restored a long time ago to the highest quality. The on-board booklets and on-board tools are complete. The car has spent the last few years in high-quality collections and was looked after by the best craftsmen there, and the car looks and drives accordingly. The Mercedes 280 SE 3.5 offered here is a very honest, rust-free and accident-free example that pleases with its beautiful patina. It is now to go into new hands; the car is being sold for health reasons. It is ready for immediate use and will be checked over by us again before delivery, and will also receive a service and a fresh MOT. The exact equipment can be found in the following description. I'll be happy to answer any further questions you may have.
