In 1961, Mercedes-Benz introduced the coupe variant of the 220, which was presented in 1959 and is also known as the W111 series. With this model, Mercedes-Benz demonstrated what they were capable of. A stately automobile with a luxurious appearance and all the imaginable comfort. In short: top class.

The car we have the pleasure of here is a W111 220SE Coupé (Type W111.021), fitted with the rare four-speed manual transmission. A car in a fully restored condition, with no expenses spared to achieve absolute top condition. Restoring a car to this level on your own will certainly cost more money than buying this ready-to-go car.

The body is beautiful. Smooth, beautifully painted, and with perfectly fitting sheet metal parts that ensure seamless joints. The cream-white color suits the German coupe very stylishly, and the chrome is in optimal condition. Fortunately, this chrome is in mint condition everywhere; there are simply no parts requiring improvement. Needless to say, the rubber mouldings, windows, and original wheels with good tyres are all in a condition to be admired.

It goes without saying that this condition alone is reason enough to want to purchase this car. The fact that the car is in beautiful condition and has a manual transmission only adds to its appeal.

The interior has been phenomenally restored. The leather is of superb quality and in a beautiful color, a mix of brown and caramel, which complements the exterior color splendidly. The suppleness of said leather is fantastic, leaving the seats extremely comfortable. The wood on the dashboard and around the windshield is in mint condition and beautifully houses the gauges and controls. The cream-white steering wheel and the stylish compact gear lever contrast beautifully with the otherwise dark interior. The carpets are in good condition and fit perfectly everywhere.

The car is powered by the indestructible M270 straight-six engine, in this case, with a displacement of 2.2 liters and delivering 118 hp. The engine is wonderfully smooth and runs beautifully. The four-speed transmission complements the torquey nature of the straight-six and the relaxed driving behavior of the 220SE coupe very well. This is not a car for attacking mountain roads but for leisurely touring the most beautiful countryside roads you can find. Meanwhile, you not only enjoying the beautiful engine sound but also the leisurely passing scenery. The suspension and brakes are also more than equal to their respective tasks and contribute to the comfortable overall package.
