Description

The last “real” Lancia, designed and constructed before FIAT took over and made the cars more industrial. The Berlina was the successor to the popular Flavia and intended for the growing middle class in Italy, where its natural competitor was the Alfa Romeo 1750/2000 Berlina and the larger Fiat models. The Lancia was a technical treat with front-wheel drive, boxer engine with Bosch injection, 5-speed dogleg gearbox from ZF and disc brakes all round. In the best Lancia tradition, the Berlina was manufactured in an exquisite quality and with a large number of exclusive and expensive details that characterized Lancia. Just take a look at the cabin, it’s full of nice materials and so inviting. And this particular example is even equipped with 4 electric operated windows, power steering and air conditioning. A car worthy of an ambassador. Or a Pope!? The car is originally from Venice, so perhaps a Count is more appropriate?

The Berlina was marketed as a high-quality luxury car, while the dynamic qualities in typical Lancia understatement were toned down. Maybe you remember having seen the car actually drive quite quickly from the movie “Rush”, where a young Niki Lauda has to impress his future wife in a Lancia Berlina.

This particular example – in the color Marrone Paroli (chestnut brown) – drives extremely well and bears the mark of having been owned by an enthusiast who, since it was imported to Denmark in 2014, has taken good care of the car. Step into the luxurious cabin and start the engine and drive away, is like getting into a time machine. The car is a true pleasure to drive, quick and sharp in all details and well maintained, and at the same time has just the right patina. And the color scheme – you don’t get it more 70s-like. Ready to be enjoyed by it’s next caretaker.
