Description

This incredible driving, superbly well-presented Jaguar XK150 is a matching numbers, UK RHD Home Market car that was supplied new in Green with Tan leather. Built on the 11th February 1958, the XK was distributed out of Henlys, London, sold new by N Christie and despatched on the 12th March 1958. The Jaguar was registered new 755 DKX, and the registration mark is still with the car today. During the cars early life it was upgraded to S specification with triple carburettors and S badging and by the late 1980’s the XK was in need of a major restoration. Further to the S spec upgrade, the car has a very significant early history as it was also subject to slight body modifications by a Paddington, London Company called E.T Eames Ltd. The front headlights and sidelights were relocated, the front bumper moved closer to the bodywork and the rear bumper side sections removed. A photo and an article from the 1960’s called ‘XK with a difference – One mans Jaguar XK150S’ is in the history file.

A detailed photo album records an outstanding, full body off restoration that was carried out during the early 1990's. The chassis was completed stripped, the engine, gearbox and rear axle rebuilt, much of the work being carried out by a Vintage Car and Historic Racing Car Restoration firm in Devon. The car was fully rebuilt mechanically, and then the magnificently rebuilt bodyshell was painted off the chassis, the chassis also prepared and re-painted before the body going back on. The XK was built up with all renewed brightwork, painted wire wheels and the upholstery was beautifully re-trimmed in leather. The XK stayed in Devon with one owner for 24 years, finally parting with the car in 2014.

In 2021 the XK changed hands again and the car was handed to CMC in Bridgnorth and had a staggering £27000 of mechanical and upgrade work. This included EZ power steering, alternator conversion, brake upgrade kit to include larger calipers, new discs and pads, aliminium upgraded radiator, new hose kit, upgraded headlamps and various upkeep and maintenance, all detailed on the extensive invoices. This work was completed over 2021 and 2022, and around 3000 faultless miles have been covered since. The XK has also recently been professionally de-bumpered, but the original front and rear bumpers are with the car and can be re-instated if desired.

On the road this is a quick XK, the S upgrades have been in place most of the cars life and having had the recent expenditure, it is quite simply outstanding to drive. Over the summer of 2024 the XK covered 2400 faultless miles touring from the UK through France and is quite simply excpetional on the road. The engine is fit, strong and healthy holding excellent oil pressure, power delivery is impressive and the car pulls tremendously well. The gear changes are superb, the overdrive comes in smoothy and the steering is effortless. The car feels tight, responsive and does not disappoint on the road. The bodywork is excellent with superb straight panels, paintwork years on since restoration is still of a very high standard, as is the brightwork. The interior is outstanding, and its clear from its condition the car has had light use since its early 1990's restoration.
