Description

Jaguar XK120 Coupe Restomod

The Jaguar XK120 was a popular choice for racing in the early 1950s. In 1952, a Jaguar fixed-head coupé set numerous world records for speed and distance, averaging 100 mph over the course of a week. Jaguar also produced the legendary Jaguar C-Type for racing. To be absolutely clear, this car has nothing to do with a Jaguar C-Type!

Exterior: This pastel blue Jaguar XK120 has been expertly prepared for rallies such as the Mille Miglia, Arlberg Classic, Ennstal Classic, Silvretta Classic, The Tulip Rally, and many others. To save weight and give the car a cleaner appearance, the bumpers have been removed. Slightly wider rims have been fitted with Michelin Pilot X tires, not only enhancing the car's aesthetic appeal but also improving its handling, even at high speeds. In the trunk, you'll find a 120L aluminum fuel tank, making a trunk rack essential for storing your suitcase. Additional headlights at the front ensure better visibility on winding alpine roads. A proper leather strap secures the flared hood, and two well-positioned side-view mirrors on the doors provide extra safety. While it’s unlikely many cars will catch up with you, the mirrors are there just in case.

Interior: If you're around 175 cm (5'9") or taller, you might find it challenging to fit into a standard Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe. However, this car features special bucket seats, offering extra legroom and headroom, making it much more comfortable for taller drivers. These seats are also great for long journeys. Hooks are in place for proper seat belts. The interior features a beautiful wood dashboard with fully functional Smiths instruments and a Moto-Lita wooden steering wheel that is adjustable in height. The car also has a unique pedal configuration, with the gas pedal connected by a cable rather than a linkage, giving you a more connected driving experience. The slightly bulkier gearbox tunnel accommodates the overdrive.

Engine and Mechanics: The engine underwent a complete rebuild in 2016, tuned by Sigma Engineering in the UK, and it is by far the strongest and fastest Jaguar XK120 I’ve ever driven. Despite its power, it remains easy to drive with excellent torque. Combined with the overdrive gearbox, this car is perfect for rallies or Grand Touring. The extensive work on the car was carried out by Classic Motor Cars Limited in the UK and Twyford Moors XK Specialists. Major upgrades include:
• Fully rebuilt Moss gearbox and overdrive unit
• Complete engine rebuild by Sigma Engineering, including pistons, bearings, etc.
• Koni Classic front dampers
• New clutch and brake master cylinders
• Entirely new wiring loom
• Full brake overhaul
• All front and rear bushings replaced

History: This exceptional Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe was first sold in the USA in April 1953. In 1991, it was brought to the UK, where it came into the possession of Mr. Williams. The car received its FIVA pass in 1999 and again in 2007. The current owner purchased the car in 2015, after which a major restoration was undertaken by Classic Motor Cars Limited, completed in 2018. It was then registered in Sweden and now has Swedish documents, meaning it can be traded within the EU without any additional taxes. The documentation for the car dates back to its time in the USA, and all invoices for the restoration work done between 2016 and 2018 are included.
