Description

The Big Cat on Four Wheels – 1954 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster

The 1954 Jaguar XK 120 is more than just a car. It is an icon; a symbol of ground-breaking design and unparalleled performance. With its flowing lines and a silhouette that embodies the perfection of automotive design, the Jaguar XK 120 is an ode to elegance.

Under the breathtaking bonnet lies a powerful 3.4 litre inline six-cylinder engine that gives the XK 120 its impressive 160 hp performance. The Jaguar XK 120 played a key role in building Jaguar’s reputation as a manufacturer of powerful and stylish cars. The model was a huge success in Europe and the US and helped to put Jaguar on the international map as a brand. It was one of Jaguar’s most famous models and one of the fastest production cars of its time. During its sporting years, the historically significant XK 120 was driven by the legendary Le Mans winner Duncan Hamilton. At the time Duncan Hamilton was one of the outstanding figures of motorsport history.

Our auction vehicle also has an impressive history behind it. Delivered to a Mr V.H. Ottensteiner in Maryland on 2nd June 1954, the owner went on to enjoy the beautiful and fast XK 120 for over 20 years. In 1989, the car was imported to the Netherlands and registered there. Following major restoration, the car was repainted from its original cream to black.

In the Netherlands, it ultimately had 3 owners. The XK 120 stayed with its last owner for almost 10 years, competing in over 10 rallies and tours in Europe before being sold to a buyer in Switzerland in December 2010. The new owner has had the car extensively restored over the last 12 years, and receipts for over CHF 90,000 are available. Naturally, the vehicle has veteran status, as well as a Production Record Trace Certificate with the number 33669. A real classic.
