Description

This is a beautifully presented, yet largely original and very genuine Jaguar MKII 3.4. The car was registered new in Devon as 691 HDV and today still retains its original 3.4 litre factory supplied engine, and original colour combination of Pearl Grey with Red leather upholstery. Having spent its early years in the South West, by 1967 the Jaguar was in South East London where it stayed with one owner until the early 1990’s. A series of long term owners have ensured this car has also been very well preserved, and refurbishment work has been carried out whenever required. The car first came to us in late 2021, the MKII was faultlessly driven over to us from the Beverley area having had over £5,000 worth of upgrade work and maintenance. We have then supplied the MK2 on two occasions, most recently to one of our long term regular customers who purchased the car at our stand at Goodwood Revival in September 2023.

Over the last 25 years and prior to coming into our hands the MKII has been sold by a renowned Jaguar specialist on more than one occasion. Originally when they supplied the car in 1999, they were briefed to find an unspoiled, straight, and genuine Jaguar MKII that could be sympathetically improved. The car was sourced from expert ex Coombes engineer Ken Bell and after a couple of years enjoyment, the owner had the engine fully rebuilt by VSE and the engine bay prepared to a show level standard. The brakes were upgraded to Coopercraft and various suspension bushes replaced. The woodwork was re-polished, a new wool carpet set made, and a new headlining fitted. The leather work didn't require any attention having been subject of a professional re-trim during the early 1990's using authentic quality hides, therefore today presenting as a very original interior.

The Jaguar changed ownership in 2013 and the car was stripped down and re-painted at this point. Further enhancements included engine bay re-finishing and re-wiring the original radio to FM. 691 HDV then spent over seven years with one owner who enjoyed the car for long distance touring and events such as Goodwood. The MKII was sold for the third time in 22 years in early 2021 and was taken to Jaguar specialists M&C Wilkinson for over £5000 of work to include a power steering rack, 123 electronic ignition, Bosch Blue coil, new plug leads and new grey 3 point seat belts. Since then we have looked after this stunning example.

Since the engine rebuild in the early 2000's, the MKII has covered around 8500 miles and is truly excellent on the road. The VSE rebuilt engine holds excellent oil pressure and offers superb performance. The Moss gearbox is great to use, the overdrive is smooth and the handling and brakes are first class. 691 HDV presents superbly with an excellent straight body, superb door gaps and rubbers, delightfully presented Pearl Grey paintwork and impressive chrome. The engine bay many years on since refurbishment still presents beautifully, as does the boot compartment and spare wheel well which are still complete with original jack and tool kit.
