In 2004, Ferrari released a limited run of 559 examples of a striking and innovative convertible version of the F575M: the Superamerica. Introduced in 2002, the F575M (Modificata) was an evolution of the acclaimed F550 Maranello. Drawing its name from the iconic Pininfarina-designed Lampredi V12-powered GT cars of the 1950s and '60s, the Superamerica retained the F575M's 5,748cc engine, six-speed paddle-shift 'F1' manual gearbox, and running gear together with its general design while featuring a unique pivoting photo-chromatic roof. The work of Pininfarina's chief stylist Leonardo Fioravanti, creator of the legendary 365 GTB/4 'Daytona', it was the first roof of its kind ever fitted to a production car and was built using a carbon fibre frame integrated with electro-chromic glass. The transparency of the glass could be adjusted from within the cabin to transmit varying amounts of light, letting in approximately the same amount of light as a conventional glass sunroof at its lightest setting and only 1% of the sun's rays at its darkest. With the press of a button, the Superamerica can be transformed into a convertible, with the roof rotating back to rest flush with the boot lid in just 10 seconds.

Finished in Grigio Silverstone with tan leather interior, this stunning Superamerica was delivered via the official Ferrari and Maserati concessionaire, LUEG Sportivo of Meerbusch near Düsseldorf in Germany, to its first owner, a resident of Düsseldorf. As recorded in the accompanying original service book, LUEG also performed the pre-delivery check on 3rd February 2006 as well as a service in 2009 when the timing belt was renewed. Another service was carried out, again by LUEG, in May 2018 at 3,015 kilometres.

The Superamerica changed hands for the first time in June 2010, passing to the second owner in nearby Krefeld. Our vendor purchased the Ferrari in 2022 but never registered the car in his name; hence it has had only two registered owners from new, both of whom used the car very sparingly. The odometer reading (at time of cataloguing) is just over 3,500 kilometres from new. Importantly, while in the vendor's care the photo-chromatic glass roof was replaced at a cost of almost €68,000 excluding labour.

In virtually 'as new' condition, this Superamerica presents beautifully in its stunning colour condition and has a practically unmarked interior: importantly, none of the switches has the sticky surface common to many other Ferraris of the period. The car is offered with German registration documents; all books including the original service book in the original leather pouch; European Certificate of Conformity (in German) issued by Ferrari; and the invoice for the glass roof. One would be hard pressed to find a better example.
