Description

In everyone's imagination it must be red, but we find it way more charming in white: a bit Magnum P.I., for the model, but also a bit Miami Vice, being a Ferrari to drive in the open air!

It is the period when these two TV series were very very popular: 1985, May. Turin. For some years the Italian State has decided to tax cars with an engine capacity over 2 litres with a 38% VAT. Most manufacturers found a solution with the adoption of the Turbo, which had already been all the rage in Formula 1 and motorsport in general for some time.

The example we propose is one of the last Ferrari 208 Turbo GTS produced, before the advent of the intercooler version introduced few months later. In the updated version also in aesthetics, to make it more similar to its older sister 328, the car would certainly have become less angry, but also much less fascinating.

Of the 250 units of the 208 Turbo GTS produced, very few left Maranello in white and even fewer with a light, magnolia interior: the car was registered to a leasing company, remaining in the same ownership until 1989 before changing ownership and province, from Turin to Alessandria.

The 220 horsepowers are quite violent, as required by the technology of the time, but it makes the car very fun. Compared to the 308, the charm of the 208 turbo is given by the countless air vents to cool the turbocharger, which make the timeless bodywork designed by Fioravanti much more racing.

After few changes of ownership (one owner had it from 1988 to 1998, another from 2006 to 2023), the car is now ready to look for a new owner. In the past it underwent a total repainting, while the interior is almost preserved: mechanically the car is in good running order and drives well. The last service was carried out by an official Ferrari workshop which also issued a duplicate of the service book, as the first went lost. The air conditioning compressor was replaced and conventional tires were fitted, in place of TRX, very hard to find. Also included is the specific car cover.

For Italian collectors it is a rarity, but for foreigners even more so, since this model was sold mainly in our country: there should be no more than ten examples in circulation with this color combination.

The car was recently ASI approved with the gold plate that is delivered with the vehicle. It could be seen by appointment in Bologna.
