Description
Timeless Class on Four Wheels - 1973 Daimler Sovereign 4.2
This majestic classic, which is considered a prime example of luxurious driver comfort and timeless beauty, impresses with both stylish aesthetics and powerful performance.
Beneath the elegant curved bonnet lies a 4.2 litre inline six-cylinder engine that unleashes 186 hp. This power is channelled through a three-speed Borg Warner automatic transmission, which offers a driving experience of unrivalled smoothness. This is also why it is very popular with women because it can be driven effortlessly in city traffic. Every mile on board this automotive work of art is an ode to engineering and craftsmanship.
The Daimler Sovereign 4.2 impresses with its opulent interior, which was crafted using the finest British workmanship. High-quality leather, fine woods and precise craftsmanship create an ambience of incomparable exclusivity. The spacious, comfortable seats invite you to take long-distance journeys in a relaxed manner, while the elegant fittings and detailed features transport the driver into a world of luxury. The limited slip differential was standard equipment in Switzerland, the design of the independent rear suspension on double wishbone axles with additional trailing arms was first found on the E-Type. Its subframe has been softly mounted in rubber, which has reduced the car’s oversteer. The hydraulic braking system with two brake circuits works with three-piston Girling brake callipers at the front. At the rear, disc brakes are internal (differential) and combined with small brake drums in the case of the hand brake.
Our auction vehicle was first registered in Switzerland in November 1973. The Daimler most likely remained with its first owner until 1988. The car was registered in the canton of Bern for the next two years, after which it was sold to a buyer the canton of Aargau in 1990 and only found its way to its current owner 32 years later. The Daimler is in good condition, and any necessary work has always been carried out promptly. In addition, the body was completely restored in 1988 and painted in the original Regency Red.
Extensive photo documentation of the restoration is available. The Production Record Trace Certificate number 21513 was issued for this beautiful vehicle in 2002. A rare, genuine vehicle with Swiss history. The XJ presented here embodies many valuable qualities at a relatively low price.
