Description

The Daimler Straight Eight engines were developed by Daimler to power the largest and most expensive vehicles in the Daimler range. These vehicles were usually delivered to royal households and the wealthy aristocracy.

With the Straight Eight, which delivers 140 hp to the road from its 8-cylinder inline engine with a displacement of 4.6 litres, Daimler suddenly became a competitor to the Bentley "silent sports cars". On the famous Brooklands track, the speed record for a Daimler Straight Eight saloon was measured at 95 mph, equivalent to 153 km/h.

This Daimler Straight Eight Mallory Special is aptly named after the famous British racing circuit, Mallory Park, in line with its performance.

Daimler Straight Eight Mallory Special

1937

Engine: 8-cylinder inline

Displacement: 4,624 cc

Power: 103 kW / 140 hp

Transmission: Pre-selector gearbox

Colour: Black

Interior: Red

With its pre-selector gearbox and the European standard pedal arrangement (from left to right: clutch, brake, and accelerator), it is an excellent entry into the world of fast pre-war cars. The customised speedometer, which already displays speed in km/h, also saves the trouble of converting from miles to kilometres.

In recent years, the vehicle has been very successful in various rallies and is already equipped with a Halda Twinmaster. Thanks to the free-standing wheels, both the driver and co-driver always have a clear view of checkpoints (light barriers, hoses).

The car is ready for immediate use.

The vehicle is NOT located at our premises.
