Description

**Elaborately restored gem: **

Pure 1950s feeling: Alongside the Beetle and many other small and micro cars, the Isetta contributed to the motorization of Germany in the post-war period. The chic Moto-Coupé with the huge front door combines a clever concept with winning 1950s charm.

In the mid-1950s, the once proud manufacturer BMW was on the verge of bankruptcy. Demand for motorcycles was declining, which hit BMW hard as the most important German manufacturer of premium motorcycles. In the automotive sector, BMW had until then concentrated on large, luxurious vehicles (501, 502, 503) and the 507 super sports car - all of which were far too expensive to produce and made no significant contribution to the brand's financial success. So BMW needed a new model. At the 1954 Turin Motor Show, BMW found the Iso Isetta, a three-wheeler with a huge front door, on the Iso Rivolta stand. BMW acquired the license rights for the Isetta at the Turin Motor Show. The engine and chassis of the Italian scooter were improved using in-house assets, but its technical specifications are still rather modest: 245 cm³ single-cylinder 4-stroke engine from the R25, 12 HP, top speed 85 km/h.

But: For thousands, the stepping stone from motorcycle to automobile.

Our collector's Isetta was lovingly restored over the years and only covered a few kilometers for run-in and adjustment drives after the restoration. The Isetta was completely dismantled during the restoration and all components were rebuilt piece by piece. The body was stripped of paint down to the bare metal and, after being repaired, repainted inside and out. The interior is as good as new, all trim parts and upholstery fabrics were replaced during the restoration.

Getting in through the large front door is quite comfortable, and the seating comfort on the wide bench is also quite acceptable for taller passengers. Thanks to the folding roof and sliding windows on the driver and passenger side, the Isetta is wonderfully supplied with fresh air.

The fun begins after closing the large front door. The engine starts after a quick turn of the ignition key and the Isetta accelerates with pleasure. It's a great feeling to whiz through the curves in the Isetta. With the folding roof open, the driving experience is wonderfully airy. You're guaranteed to get a frequent "thumbs up" from passers-by. The sympathy factor is enormous. We hand over the Isetta ready to go, with a fresh general inspection and a valuation report for your insurance company.

We'll be happy to make you a good offer for transport to your garage.

The odometer reading given is the mileage after restoration.
