Back in the 1960’s, BMW purchased a competing auto brand, Hans Glas. After buying Glas, BMW decided to take one of the previous brand’s cars, the Glas 3000 V8, develop it as a BMW Glas product. Despite the fact that it was completely unchanged from the previous car, it wore a BMW emblem on the hood. So the BMW Glas 3000 V8 is technically a BMW. Even though it’s not. Kinda. It is great looking though. But do BMW fans appreciate this car, even if it’s not a real BMW product? I think they should because look at it.
Okay, so it’s lacking the signature Kidney Grilles most BMWs have had since the brand’s inception. However, it’s just such a cool looking car that really evokes the style of the ’60s. n the inside, Oit has a mostly black cabin, with white inserts in the seats and grey fabric door panels. The thin, wooden three-spoke steering wheel looks ace, as well. I also, personally, love the gauges. There’s something about classic car gauges that really gets me. This car was in a german collection for a long time. When we boughed it last year we took the old paint of and repainted it in the factory colour. inside the car stil is orginal and looks great. The engine runs smooth and is still orginal
Under the hood is a 3.0-liter V8, which is small for a V8, but can rev nicely, with a three-barrel carb. It developed almost 160 hp and had a top speed of 200 km/h. Glas had a prototype 3.2 liter engine with 175 hp but never made production after the takeover by BMW. That engine was mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Of this version glass car delivered as bmw there are only 70 known.
