Granat Red 3.0 CSi

This 1974 BMW 3.0 CSi with VIN 4340407 is the 407th built car from the 2nd series CSi. Built on the 16th of April 1974 and delivered to BMW of Italy in Palazzolo/Verona on the 25th of March 1975 in this color - 025 Granat Red Metallic. The car was kept very well and used with respect. The car was in the Rome area until the late 90's. The car is now 50 years old and hasn't seen any welding or repairs on it's body. Truly unique and therefore a high-end 3.0 CSi.

We have recently acquired this CSi from the last German owner who bought this car in Rome, Italy. We we're blown away by the condition of the car. Why? The body is very original, non-restored or repaired. As many may know: The E9's can be prone to rust and hard to repair. The floors, sills/rockers, A-pillars and engine-bay / Inner fenders are original, non-restored and in great condition. The factory A/C is a big plus and a sought after feature nowadays.

The body of the car is very straight, has perfect panelgaps and wears original fenders, doors, quarterpanels and lids. Unrestored. The paint of has been redone a year ago to a very high standard. A very proper repaint performed in Germany. Ofcourse with windows out, trim off, bumpers off. A deep shine, original colour and no tape marks. The trim of the car is in excellent condition. The chrome bumpers are excellent, a mirror shine in the upper and underside. Beltline chrome is just as nice, clear headlights and excellent taillights. Excellent original glass in replaced seals. It has new BMW roundels and the chrome trim under the side windows has been re-chromed. The car makes an as new appearance inside and out.

On the inside a perfect mix of 1974 original and perfectly restored. The dash and it's wood is perfect and original. No chips on the wood, a non-cracked dash without any holes or extra switches. The doorpanels are original and in beautiful condition. The wood panelling has been replaced with new correct cherry wood. A clean, crisp headliner from 1974. The carpet has been replaced and the seats and rearseats have been reupholstered in the factory black leather. A new Nardi steering wheel was fitted. The car has factory A/C a very rare and beloved option. The center console was reupholstered, the Blaupunkt radio plays nicely and the switchgear is all original and correct. The A/C has been serviced and converted to work with modern gas. Blows cold!

The engine-bay of this E9 looks spectacular. All original. The original inner-fenders / sheetmetal, original mats and original paint and decals. Something very rare with E9's. The matching numbers engine is present and runs excellent. The cylinderhead has been rebuilt in recent history. We have performed a major, major service completely sorting this car.
Injection tuned, ignition set up, ignition set up and partially replaced. Countless gaskets, new filters, fluids and ready to go.

The car sits on lowered suspension and drives lovely. Great suspension for a proper Grand Touring driving experience. We have installed the 16" Alpina-style wheels, 7" wide in the front, 8" wide in the rear. The trunk shows original sheetmetal. The panelling has been restored: new wood covered in the correct grey vinyl. The toolset in the trunk is complete. Sparewheel, jack and tool are obviously present.

The undercarriage is something we're very proud of. It was cleaned extensively and tediously. After hours of dry-ice blasting and cleaning we saw how BMW made and meant it. Not painted, not welded. Original floors in BMW's grey primer. The wheelwells in body color. We have coated the entire undercarriage in a transparent bodycoating (TimeMax Clear). A great outcome. Now protected against the elements, non-sticky and therefore easily cleanable while keeping the originality,

We have completely sorted this immaculate 3.0 CSi, in short:

  • Engine Oil - All Filters - Valve adjustment

  • Transmission removed, re-sealed, new oil

  • Re-seal differential + new fluid

  • Adjusting and greasing all 4 electric windows
