Aston Martin DB6 MK2 chassis '4255/R' was first registered in Kent on the 9th November 1970, although the first owner is unknown.
Mr Saunders purchased the MK2 from Swanley Motor Company in 1976/1977. He instructed Aston Martin Works to carry out a bare metal re-spray to the original 'Olive Green' livery in 1979-1980. Following on from this, the car was then sold in 1980/1981 to Roland Duce, a car dealer in Leicestershire.
Mrs Susans of Guildford, Surrey, purchased the MK2 from Roland Duce in December 1983. Frank Reeder & Sons Ltd (performance and specialist cars) of Pewsey, Wiltshire, purchased the MK2 in April 1984. The Aston was restored between March 1984 and March 1986 by the Reeders and Marque specialists Goldsmith & Young.
The MK2 attended four Concours events, and in 1987, it won the coveted Volz Trophy. It was evident that the Reeders' restoration paid off as the MK2 went on to win 2nd and 3rd place in three outings.
In 2022, ROE sourced and inspected the MK2 for the current owner, at which point the Aston was in 'Canyon Pearl Red' livery with a tan leather interior. Some initial commissioning was carried out to enable the owner to drive the MK2 in the South of France before returning to begin the restoration journey.
During the winter of 2022, ROE was commissioned to restore the DB6 to a Concours standard. The exhaustive list of the works is fully documented within the car's history file as well as in the photographic album.
Notable highlights include complete paint removal and repair of the original aluminium body shell and repainting to 'Olive', a full mechanical overhaul and rebuilding of the original Vantage engine to 4.2l specification. Retrimming of the interior was completed with Connolly specifically producing the Vaumol 'pigskin' leather, complemented with Wilton wool carpets in Sandstorm as per the factory. A truly fabulous combination.
The MK2 was awarded an award at the 2024 Yorkshire Elegance Concours following its restoration.
