Description

The impressive Alfa Romeo convertible, featuring its fantastic 2.6-liter 6-cylinder engine, was sensational when it was first introduced in 1962. Orazio Puglia, a visionary and talented engine designer at Alfa Romeo, developed an entirely new powerplant that drew heavily from his ingenious Giulietta design with dual overhead camshafts. The new 2.6-liter engine also boasted an aluminum block with wet liners and a seven-bearing crankshaft. Thanks to the three Solex dual carburetors, the Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider delivered an impressive 145 horsepower. From late 1963 onwards, the larger Alfa Romeos were also equipped with servo-assisted disc brakes all around.

The bodywork department at Touring created a stunning design for this elegant convertible. The chassis is more focused on comfort than on uncompromising sportiness. Even tall drivers can easily enter and sit comfortably on the wide and plush seats. The beautiful round instruments, with the two larger ones in the center displaying speed and rpm and the smaller ones on the sides showing water and oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level, complete the excellent appearance.

The spacious trunk offers enough room for a pleasant vacation trip for two. Only 2,255 examples of this Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider were built in total.

This beautiful Alfa Romeo 2600 Touring Spider is one of the last produced. The 2600 was first delivered to the USA in 1965 and was imported to Germany in 1981, where it has remained ever since.

The vehicle underwent a complete restoration between 1994 and 1995, with photographic documentation available. From 1981 to 2014, the car was owned by a doctor from Westphalia. It wasn't until 2014 that the owner sold the vehicle.

In the last 10 years, nearly €55,000 has been invested in the car, ensuring that the Alfa remains in wonderfully maintained condition to this day. Additionally, the engine was overhauled in 2023. That same year, the car was fitted with a completely new set of Borrani wheels, including central locks.
