Description

This car was built in Argentina by Bianchi Grand Prix, a company dedicated to the construction of classic cars with their own designs using the same construction techniques of the time of the model. The company began its activity in 1967 as a carpentry workshop where wooden bodies of classic vehicles were restored and rebuilt, then it developed towards the restoration of cars with metal bodies. and in the year 1984-1985 the integral construction of this barchetta under its own design begins. In this case, an Alfa Romeo 2300 was used as a donor where the 4-cylinder engine, transmission, cardan, differential, brakes, suspensions, etc. were obtained. Designing and building a grand prix car from the 1940s.

Only one unit was built, which is the one that is now fully restored. The car has a chassis with welded round pipes, 3 mm thick and a body built entirely in aluminum according to the practices at that time, modeled by hand with a hammer and welded. It uses 5 spoke wheels with central nut, handmade wooden steering wheel and original leather seats. To improve the stopping power, 4-wheel disc brakes were installed and all the suspension elements taken from the donor car were used, with an independent front suspension scheme with A-type arms and spring-loaded shock absorbers. For the rear suspension, a rigid axle and two spring-loaded shock absorbers were chosen. To protect from the wind, two brooklands-style windshields were installed. The engine is Alfa Romeo 2300 with 150 HP, with two overhead camshafts and two Italian Weber carburetors with a 4-speed forward and reverse gearbox. The total weight of the car in motion is about 600kg.
